Nous avons le plaisir de vous partager l’appel à communications pour la prochaine Biennale Internationale d’Architecture Tropicale (BIAT) qui aura lieu du 2 au 6 novembre 2026. 

Le thème 2026 sera « Où atterrir ?* : Aléas naturels et défis des mondes tropicaux »

Cette édition interrogera les réponses des territoires tropicaux face à l’intensification des risques naturels et aux transformations environnementales, en mobilisant étudiants, enseignants, chercheurs, praticiens, professionnels et décideurs autour de trois axes : 

•           Axe 1 : Évolution de la conception de projet face aux aléas naturels au prisme des interdépendances écologiques ;

•           Axe 2 : Les mondes tropicaux, une ressource pour enseigner l'architecture et le paysage en situation d’adaptation face aux risques majeurs ;

•           Axe 3 : Demain, comment habiter ce monde ?

Call for Abstracts – International Biennial of Tropical Architecture

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are pleased to share with you the call for papers for the upcoming International Tropical Architecture Biennale (BIAT) which will take place from 2 to 6 November 2026 in La Réunion. 

The theme will be “Down to earth*: Natural hazards and challenges in tropical regions”.

This edition will explore how tropical territories respond to the intensification of natural risks and environmental transformations, bringingtogether students, teachers, researchers, practitioners, professionals, and decision-makers around three themes

•           Theme 1: The evolution of project design in the face of natural hazards through the lens of ecological interdependencies;

•           Theme 2: Tropical worlds as a resource for teaching architecture and landscape design in situations of adaptation to major risks;

•           Theme 3: How will we inhabit this world tomorrow?

Deadline: 13 April 2026 at 12:00 pm (Réunion island time)
